It warms the cockles of my heart to know that I’m not the only person immature enough (or just still connected to my inner teenage boy) to get a giggle and a kick out of Cock Fireworks… it must be the intersection of the low brow pun and the excitement of blowing things up but I don’t even feel the need to apologize! There is a post today on BoingBoing about a book of Indian artwork on fireworks packaging. I love the description on Amazon, bleeding with more puntasticness, “images are loaded, they explode with meaning”. The BoingBoing post took me right back to Jaipur and the memory of buying and igniting “crackers” during the festival of Diwali, the festival of lights. Besides having a few go off in my face and almost lighting our hotel on fire, celebrating Diwali was one of the most fun and exciting things we did in India. All festivals of light should be so celebrated (Hanukkah, I’m looking at you!). In remembrance of Diwali, enjoy some of our photos of me purchasing Cock Fireworks… “Buy the Best COCK… brand”
who doesnt love some….fireworks!
Haha – This brought back so many memories from when I was growing up in New Delhi.
They were *totally the best buy* – even the girls asked for only the ‘Cock’ brand @ the local store.
